SECTION II: PURPOSE OF THE ROLE  
Purpose of Role To lead and manage all survey and geospatial activities across the lifecycle of a Transmission & Distribution (T&D) infrastructure project, including transmission line routing, tower spotting, substation layouting, and right-of-way (RoW) mapping. Ensure precision in alignment, topographic accuracy, legal land boundary referencing, and geospatial documentation to support seamless project execution.
         
SECTION III:  JOB REQUIREMENTS   
Total Experience in Yrs. (Minimum) 15
Qualification Diploma / B.Tech (Civil / Survey)
Specific Certification / Additional Certifications (if Any) Certification in GPS, GIS, and drone survey applications preferred
Technical/ Functional Skills Requirement DGPS and Total Station expertise, Tower profiling and stringing alignment, Substation layout planning, CAD/GIS tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, QGIS, ArcGIS)

SECTION IV: ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES  
Responsibility Area Responsibility % of Time Spent
Strategic Develop and implement the survey plan covering tower spotting, line alignment, topography, access road planning, and substation layout. Support route selection and optimization based on terrain, regulatory restrictions, and constructability. 25%
Financial Management Estimate survey-related costs, including instrument procurement/leasing, software, manpower, and external services. Control budget usage through optimized deployment and minimal rework. 25%
Operational Supervise and coordinate daily survey activities such as: 40%
Tower location marking, angle towers, and tension tower setting.
Profile leveling, cross-section capturing, and terrain modeling.
Substation plot layout and equipment alignment.
Road, drainage, and utility alignment marking.
As-built survey of tower erections and stringing completion.
Ensure survey tolerance limits are maintained, especially in structure location, line alignment, and substation grid layout.
People Management Lead and mentor a team of survey engineers and support staff. Conduct training on instrument usage, safety, digital workflows, and terrain-based alignment challenges. 10%
