The Senior Manager – Planning & Scheduling is responsible for developing, managing, and overseeing project schedules and planning activities for major railway infrastructure projects. This role ensures that all project milestones are achieved within defined timelines, budgets, and quality parameters by implementing robust project controls, reporting systems, and risk management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Planning & Scheduling

Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.

Establish Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) aligned with project scope and deliverables.

Prepare baseline schedules, resource histograms, progress “S” curves, and critical path analyses.

Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to integrate and update schedules.

Track project progress, identify delays, and recommend corrective actions.
2. Project Controls & Monitoring

Set up and manage planning and scheduling systems for multi-disciplinary railway projects (civil, track, signaling, OHE, telecom, etc.).

Establish Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics and conduct variance analyses.

Prepare and present weekly and monthly progress reports for internal and client review.

Support project risk analysis and mitigation planning.
3. Interface & Coordination

Collaborate with project managers, construction managers, and design teams to ensure schedule alignment.

Interface with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to review schedules and progress.

Ensure schedule integration across subcontractors and interface packages.
4. Leadership & Team Management

Lead and mentor a team of planning engineers and schedulers.

Conduct training and capacity-building in planning tools and techniques.

Promote a proactive planning culture across project teams.
5. Change & Claims Management

Evaluate schedule impacts of design changes, variations, and unforeseen conditions.

Support preparation of time extension claims, delay analyses, and forensic scheduling.

Maintain accurate documentation of all schedule updates and revisions.
Qualifications & Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Minimum 12–18 years of experience in planning & scheduling, with at least 5 years in senior management roles on railway or metro projects.

Proven experience in infrastructure mega-projects (preferably railways, metro, or high-speed rail).

Proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project, and other project management software.

Strong understanding of project management principles, EVM, and contractual scheduling requirements (FIDIC / EPC).
