Role Purpose

To manage day-to-day operation and maintenance activities at the solar plant site, ensuring maximum generation, high availability, safe operations, and compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Site Operations

  • Monitor plant generation, availability, and alarms through SCADA at site.

  • Ensure timely start-up, shutdown, and synchronization of the plant.

  • Coordinate with SLDC/DISCOM for outages, grid failures, and energy scheduling.

  • Maintain daily generation logs and site operational records.


Maintenance Execution (Site-Based)

  • Plan and execute preventive and breakdown maintenance at site for:

    • Solar PV modules & mounting structures

    • String Monitoring Boxes (SMB/SCB)

    • Inverters / PCUs

    • Inverter Duty Transformers (IDT) & Power Transformers

    • HT/LT panels, switchyard equipment, protection relays

  • Supervise module cleaning activities and ensure quality and safety compliance.

  • Attend plant breakdowns and ensure minimum downtime.

  • Coordinate with OEM service teams for inverter/transformer rectification.


Performance Monitoring & Improvement

  • Track PR, CUF, inverter availability, string performance, and losses.

  • Identify under-performing blocks/strings and take corrective actions.

  • Support thermography, IV curve testing, EL testing (if applicable).

  • Carry out root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring faults.


Safety, HSE & Statutory Compliance

  • Implement site safety systems including PTW, LOTO, and safety audits.

  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and ensure PPE usage.

  • Ensure compliance with CEA regulations, Electrical Inspectorate, and local statutory bodies.

  • Maintain safety records, incident reports, and compliance documentation.


Site Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly site O&M reports.

  • Maintain breakdown registers, shutdown logs, and maintenance checklists.

  • Validate energy meter readings and support billing data.

  • Maintain site SOPs, drawings, SLDs, and equipment manuals.


Manpower & Contractor Management

  • Supervise site technicians, operators, and cleaning contractors.

  • Allocate daily work and monitor productivity.

  • Ensure adherence to SLA, KPIs, and quality standards.

  • Train technicians on site equipment, safety, and SOPs.
