Job Purpose:

To plan, execute, and monitor signaling and telecommunication works in railway projects ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, safety norms, and project timelines. The role involves coordination with design teams, contractors, vendors, and client representatives for the smooth execution and commissioning of S&T systems.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Planning & Execution

  • Assist in preparing detailed work schedules, resource planning, and material forecasts for signaling and telecommunication systems.

  • Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of S&T equipment including signals, point machines, interlocking systems, cables, track circuits, axle counters, and telecom systems (OFC, PA, CCTV, etc.).

  • Ensure adherence to approved drawings, technical specifications, and Railway standards.

2. Technical Coordination

  • Review and verify signaling and telecom design drawings, wiring diagrams, and interface control documents.

  • Coordinate with internal design teams, contractors, and OEMs for timely resolution of technical issues.

  • Assist in integration and interfacing activities with other systems such as track, electrical, and civil works.

3. Quality & Safety

  • Ensure all site activities comply with quality assurance plans, inspection test plans (ITPs), and safety protocols.

  • Conduct quality checks for materials and installations as per Railway/IRCON/RITES standards.

  • Prepare test plans, inspection reports, and quality documentation for handover and approvals.

4. Project Monitoring & Documentation

  • Track daily progress, highlight deviations, and support corrective measures to maintain project timelines.

  • Maintain as-built documentation, test reports, cable schedules, and commissioning records.

  • Support in preparation of technical reports, BOQs, and progress reports for client and management review.

5. Client & Vendor Coordination

  • Liaise with client engineers and inspection authorities for approvals and clearances.

  • Coordinate with vendors for timely supply, inspection, and installation of S&T materials and equipment.

  • Support during site inspections, audits, and commissioning trials.


Education & Experience:

  • Qualification: B.E./B.Tech. or Diploma in Electronics / Electrical / Telecommunication Engineering.

  • Experience:

    • For B.E./B.Tech. – Minimum 3–7 years of experience in Signaling & Telecommunication works in Railway / Metro projects.

    • For Diploma Holders – Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience.

  • Preferred Experience: Exposure to Indian Railways / DFCCIL / Metro Rail projects with knowledge of conventional and electronic interlocking systems, OFC networks, and modern signaling technologies (SSI/PI/EI).


Technical & Functional Skills:

  • Knowledge of railway signaling principles, relay logic, and telecom systems.

  • Familiarity with Indian Railway signaling standards, RDSO specifications, and safety procedures.

  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, wiring schematics, and cable layouts.

  • Hands-on experience in installation, testing, and commissioning of S&T systems.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD, and project management tools.
