Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Engineering
-
Prepare and review OHE layouts, profiles, cross-sections, and technical drawings.
-
Conduct route surveys, traction power studies, and feasibility assessments.
-
Select OHE components such as masts, cantilevers, insulators, fittings, and conductors.
-
Perform structural and mechanical calculations (SAG, tension, wind load, uplift, etc.).
-
Ensure adherence to standards (IRS, RDSO, EN, IEC, IEEE or project-specific norms).
2. Installation & Execution
-
Supervise erection of masts, portals, cantilevers, droppers, and registration arms.
-
Ensure proper stringing of catenary and contact wires with accurate tensioning.
-
Coordinate with civil, track, signaling, and power supply teams for site readiness.
-
Manage subcontractors and ensure quality control during installation.
3. Testing & Commissioning
-
Conduct measurements: stagger, height, uplift, electrical clearances, and contact pressure.
-
Perform continuity, insulation resistance, earthing, and voltage tests.
-
Prepare test reports and ensure the system is ready for energization and trial runs.
4. Safety & Compliance
-
Enforce electrical and work-at-height safety protocols.
-
Ensure environmental and statutory compliance for all OHE activities.
-
Maintain documentation required for inspections, audits, and approvals.
5. Project Management & Coordination
-
Prepare BOQs, material requirement sheets, and progress reports.
-
Monitor project schedules and coordinate timely material delivery.
-
Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams to resolve technical issues.
