Designation: Engineer – Earthwork (Railway)

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Execution

• Supervise earthwork activities including cutting, filling, embankment formation, and blanketing
• Ensure execution as per approved drawings, specifications, and IR standards
• Plan deployment of machinery, manpower, and materials for earthwork

Quality Control

• Ensure compaction meets required density and moisture content
• Conduct and review field tests (FDT, Proctor, sieve analysis, etc.)
• Ensure use of approved soil and materials as per specifications

Measurement & Documentation

• Record earthwork measurements and maintain MBs
• Prepare RA bills, DPRs, and progress reports
• Assist in quantity verification and reconciliation

Coordination & Safety

• Coordinate with P-Way, Bridge, Electrical, and Signaling teams
• Liaise with contractors, survey teams, and quality inspectors
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and site safety protocols

Compliance

• Follow Indian Railways Engineering Code, IRS specifications, and contract conditions
• Ensure environmental and statutory compliance during earthwork operations

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of railway earthwork specifications
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and profiles
• Familiarity with survey instruments and earthwork machinery
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Problem-solving and site management ability

Educational Qualification

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering

Experience

• 2–8 years of experience in railway or large infrastructure earthwork projects
• Experience in Indian Railways / Metro Rail / Railway PSU projects preferred
