Job Description – Casting Yard Incharge (Dy. Manager)

 

Location: Ahmedabad

Reports To: Structure Head

1. Role Purpose

To lead and manage the complete operations of the casting yard, ensuring timely production of precast elements (girders, slabs, segments, crash barriers, etc.) with highest standards of quality, safety, productivity, and cost efficiency for the project.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Planning & Production Management

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans aligned with project schedule.

  • Ensure timely casting of all precast elements (e.g., PSC girders, pier caps, deck slabs, crash barriers).

  • Monitor productivity, cycle time, curing, storage, and dispatch of precast components.

  • Manage moulds, formwork, pre-stressing beds, and ensure timely maintenance.

B. Technical & Quality Control

  • Ensure compliance with all approved drawings, technical specifications, IRC/MoRT&H standards.

  • Coordinate with QA/QC team for concrete mix design, cube testing, and quality inspections.

  • Ensure proper tensioning, pre-stressing, grouting, and finishing activities.

  • Maintain documentation for all casting activities.

C. Resource & Manpower Management

  • Lead and manage casting yard engineers, supervisors, operators, and labour workforce.

  • Ensure optimum use of Batching Plant, cranes, concrete pumps, curing systems, and other equipment.

  • Arrange required raw materials in coordination with procurement and site stores.

D. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure strict implementation of HSE guidelines within the casting yard.

  • Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments, and maintain safety records.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory norms and internal audit requirements.

E. Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with Structures Team, Planning, QA/QC, and Execution teams for smooth workflow.

  • Update casting schedules, DPR, and MIS reports for management review.

  • Liaison with transport/logistics team for timely shifting and erection of precast segments/girders.

3. Required Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Tech / Diploma in Civil Engineering.

  • 10–18 years of experience in highway/bridge/metro projects, with at least 5 years in managing a casting yard.

  • Strong knowledge of precast technology, PSC girders, segmental casting, and post-tensioning works.

  • Experience in managing high-capacity batching plants, cranes, and heavy equipment.
