SECTION II: PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

 

Purpose of Role

To lead and manage the planning, scheduling, cost estimation, billing, and quantity surveying functions for a Transmission & Distribution (T&D) project. The scope includes construction of substations (AIS/GIS), transmission lines (up to 765 kV), and distribution infrastructure. The role ensures timely execution, accurate billing, and cost control while complying with client contracts, statutory norms, and internal commercial frameworks.

Develop and maintain master project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project for all T&D packages including transmission lines, substations (AIS/GIS), cable laying, and bay extensions.
Define key milestones, activities, and dependencies across design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning stages.

Financial Management

Prepare initial project budgets broken down into civil, structural, electrical, transmission line, and equipment costs. Monitor actual vs. planned cost with respect to progress. Identify deviations in scope (e.g., conductor changes, tower extensions, switchgear modifications), document variations, and prepare rate analysis and claims. Submit and follow up for approvals.

Operational

Track physical and financial progress at site. Ensure timely collection and consolidation of DPRs and prepare weekly/monthly dashboards for internal review and client submission. Identify and manage schedule risks such as ROW issues, material availability, or permitting delays. Propose re-sequencing, fast-tracking, or crash plans when required. Collaborate with internal engineering, procurement, and construction teams to finalize schedules. Interface with client project teams to align timelines and milestone tracking.
