Job Summary

The Chief Design Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all design-related activities for the metro rail project. The role involves overseeing multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards, and timelines, and coordinating with consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overall design development and coordination for the metro rail project.

• Review and approve concept, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs for civil, structural, architectural, track, systems, and other disciplines.

• Ensure designs comply with client requirements, international standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.

• Coordinate with design consultants, contractors, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.

• Monitor design progress and ensure timely submission of drawings and documents as per the project schedule.

• Review design deliverables, drawings, reports, calculations, and technical submissions.

• Provide technical guidance to design teams and ensure integration between different engineering disciplines.

• Participate in design review meetings with clients, authorities, and stakeholders.

• Ensure value engineering and cost optimization in design solutions.

• Manage design changes, technical queries, and approvals during project execution.

• Ensure quality assurance and compliance with project standards and regulatory requirements.

• Support the construction team with technical clarifications and design modifications when required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).

• Professional certifications or memberships in relevant engineering bodies will be an advantage.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 15 years of experience in design and engineering of metro rail, railway, or large infrastructure projects.

• Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary design teams.

• Experience in metro station design, viaduct structures, tunnels, depots, or rail infrastructure is preferred.

• Experience in design coordination with international consultants and EPC contractors.
